Being blind for an hour

I decided to go around while being blindfolded for an hour, because I was absolutely sure, that hearing was more important to me than being able to see. Now I’m not sure. In the beginning of my blindfolding I tried to walk around in the living room, and trying to locate where all the sounds came from. The television was the main sound, and surprisingly, it wasn’t as easy as I thought to locate the sound of it.

In general I used my senses in a different way, than I used to. The two main senses I recognised was my sense of touch and hearing. My sense of smell wasn’t very used, but I blame that on my common cold, and therefore my loss of my dear sense of smell.
After I had been walking around for a time I decided to listen to some music. That must be a big hobby for a blind person I guess. But that was a bigger project than I thought. First I had to drag myself round every furniture, with the fear of being hit by something hard (that happened) and after that I had to find my IPhone. Happily I found it and I went upstairs to my room. I had to ask my sister to help me with the music, and while she was doing that I recognised that being in contact with other people was a totally another experience. When she gave me a hug I felt the warmth of her body and I felt that I knew when she smiled. That was very nice.

When my sister had dragged me into my room again, and placed my finger on the “switch song” button I spend my last time as a blind person with music. You recognise much more of the musical elements in a song while being blind.

I must admit that it’s very uncomfortable not knowing exactly where you are, but at the same time I found this task quite interesting and funny.
